What is this co-habitation business that husband and wives are doing? Are they really separated?
Are there any of you out there, tell me what is your relationship and why and how do you do this?
I know people who claim to be separated (on the way to divorce) but still living in the same house. Two reasons I’ve heard: 1 – they can’t afford another house yet. 2 – (the real reason) each lawyer tells their client not to leave the marital residence until the terms of the divorce are settled. For example in NY the one who leaves (before a final agreement) may be determined to have abandoned the marital residence and may lose some rights to the asset or to the value of the asset. Unfortunately, the lawyers don’t care about the kids or other circumstances, they only represent the best interests of their client – usually financial best interests with no regard for other things (like the kids)

I’m married. I co-habitate with my husband. No, we are not separated.
What are you really asking? Why separated couples live in the same house? Probably because they can’t afford to maintain separate residences until the divorce is final and the assets are divided. OR they have kids that they’re caring for together.
Why do you think it’s any of your business?
