Should sex and co-habitation outside of marriage be illegal?
Sex and living together outside of marriage has destroyed our society. People don’t even want to get married anymore or they wait until 30-40. This is an abomination.
i most certainly agree with you, brock. an abomination, indeed

No– its none of your business who lives together or has sex (assuming they’re consenting adults).
I assume the fact that like 50% of all marriages end in divorce has nothing to do with this.
So, what is wrong with waiting to get married?
I think you are the abomination and clueless too.

Right bring back Prohibition too if you think that would work.

Although I personally believe that such things are not moral and should be discouraged, I do not believe the government should be overly involved in individual sex lives.
Arresting adults for having illegal but consentual sex won’t make the sex stop–it will only crowd the jails and increase our taxes.
As far as cohabitation is concerned, these individuals lose the legal benefits of marriage. Let’s be honest. If forced unwilling people into marriage, it wouldn’t change anything but the divorce rate.

Legislating morality does not work. And many people disagree about what a moral action is anyway. It may actually be a good thing if more people wait to marry. This may give them a chance to be more mature when they enter marriage and result in fewer divorces.

The government already spends way too much time in our lives. They can stay out of this one. They already resrtict my right to be married in the first place to a gender I have no attraction to.

I don’t think sleeping around or jumping from person to person is a good thing, but there are many people who have marriage-like relationships, but don’t go through the actual marriage process. It’s the feelings behind the actions that count. Some people don’t care if they have a slip of paper on it that claims they’re married. Marriage is supposed to be based upon feelings. I think it’s better to have two people who love each other and aren’t married living together than two people who can barely stand each other who are married.

I think it should not be recognized by the government in any way, shape or form. They should not have "legal status" or any notice what-so-ever. And yes its wrong, but the government should not have that much control, because if they can discourage it they can encourage it.

how has it "destroyed" our society?? if people want to have sex, live with their partners and not marry, so what? if they are in a happy and healthy relationship what does it matter?
why are you so concerned about this?? if people are happy and not hurting anybody else it shouldnt be a problem
dont you have more important things to be worried about?? let people live their lives. there is enough hatred in the world

Like alcohol prohibition, is WAS illegal in most societies. Problem was, like many such prohibitive laws, it is largely ignored. Such laws have been repealed in most places because of their inherent unenforcability.
What I fail to see is how the legality of such living arrangements can destroy society. People have shared housing since ancient, prehistoric times. Do you mean that a MAN and a WOMAN shouldn’t live together without marriage? Then may I assume that two men or two women can live together without destroying the fabric of our society. Or should they be married also?
This is a great validation for gay marriage.
Are you also suggesting that people past their 30s and 40’s should not be allowed to marry? Why?

I am a chritian, I was taught that sex outside of marriage was and is wrong as well as just living together BUT according to the word of our Lord divorce is wrong too.. right or wrong?? I have been happily living with my man for years now– It is NO ONES Business but that indiviual and God– " Judge not least ye be judged" i am sure you have sinned and again by the book– "no one sin is greater than another" WHO ARE YOU TO SAY THAT MY SIN OF LIVING WITH MY SPOUSE IS AND SHOULD BE ILLEGAL?? In the word it states that "ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD", " No one sin is greater than another" I dont mean to preach here BUT this really struck a "nerve" you have some nerve by judging other seeing as the word says "You will be judge (by GOD) according to the way you judge others"
*** My verses may not all be exact but they are close, i appologize for not having the proper quotes but at least i do know what i am talking about.

The day the government tells people that you can’t sleep together is when you can kiss your freedoms goodbye and say hello to communism.
Too much government is bad, less government is good. It is not the governments job, it’s a person’s personal convictions and in the end, they answer to One, God.
