I was a beekeeper for many years and always used torn-up corrugated cardboard in the smoker…worked a dream…
Using smoke is something of an art form – knowing how much (little) to use and just when to stop is the trick.

Thanks, But I always smoke weed first, then open hive. That works best for me.

Also wear light colored clothing, do not wear dark stuff or fur, suede etc… Don’t use chemicals such as gas to start your smoker, it irritates them; use burlap, wood shavings or pine needles.

It’s extremely hard to smoke bees……I could never keep them lit, for one, and secondly…….I always get stung on the lips!!
